I was a homeschooled high schooler who needed an Art IV class to finish out my fine arts focus, so I chose photography and borrowed my pastor's Canon camera. My love of art only became more pronounced after learning how to capture beauty through the lens of a camera. I started by taking pictures of everything and found that I gravitated towards landscapes, light and shadows, and anything that appealed to my artistic mind. I am especially fond of black and white photography for its story-telling effects, but as you will see, I also love landscapes that speak to me. I have been fortunate to be able to travel from coast to coast with my camera in my hand to capture random moments of light or captivating colors provided by nature. My fine art portfolio comes from a variety of settings and people that either struck me in the moment or allowed me to painstakingly stage them for the right shot.
I studied under O. Rufus Lovett at Kilgore College before joining the Texas Professional Photographers Association and the Professional Photographers of America. My work has been shown at the Longview Museum of Fine Arts, Art World of Longview, and was one of 55 accepted into the juried “Black and White” exhibition at the A Smith Gallery in Johnson City, TX. I was selected by the Circle of Arts Foundation for publication in their 25th issue of Spotlight Contemporary Art Magazine in 2021, and now i am honored to be selected as a 2022 Top 60 Masters artist by ArtTour International Magazine of New York.
I want people to find the story behind the image. When colors come together just right, I’m in awe of that beauty and want others to feel that power. The contrasts in ordinary objects catch my eye, and I want to convey that intrigue to others. Brilliant colors draw me in to create something new and unusual. I’m attracted to open landscapes, like wide-open wheat fields or grassy, rolling hills. Experimenting with the editing process is fascinating, but I always come back to light and shadows.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
I find inspiration in every aspect of the world around me, but I am especially drawn to elements of light and shadows. I enjoy color photography, but I feel that black-and-white photography captures the essence of a real story behind the image.
I use a full frame Canon camera and lenses for all of my photography. I primarily use Lightroom Classic for editing techniques but have also ventured into Photoshop to create fine art pieces with layered or merge photos.
Most recently, I have been named as a “Top 60 Master Artist for 2022” by Arttour International Magazine in New York. Additionally, I was awarded the Distinguished Artist award for my photo Abandoned Brilliance by Art Curator Magazine. I am also part of a curated holiday exhibition at the Grimandi Art Gallery in NYC this December.
